i'm going with a sort of roman theme for my cards...and i think the first page is the direction that i'm building with. i don't have all the cards laid out yet, but this gives some idea of where i'm heading. let me know what you think

I like the idea a whole lot, Kerry, and that brownish-red you've got going looks great. Are you going to do them in this color scheme? I think a limited pallet could do well on these to pull them all together. When I think of Rome, I think of a red like that, a cream, and a rich, regal purple. That might be something to think about.
What are the designs to the right of the Ten and the Ace on the first page? Just curious. I'm very excited to see where these go.
thanks sam...the profile portraits are just potential face cards...the skulls could be either turn out to be aces or the joker. it's all up in the air at this point though.

I think adding some true reds to this would really help. Think about laurels, eagles, bulls, and blood. I'm curious to see how this shapes up.
