the hot tub idea is great, but i'm not sure if i would understand the "wintertime" aspect of it if i wasn't aware of the assignment. will there be something in the background to signify that it's the winter?
These are really great, I love the borders... yeah, I think I'd like to see more suggestion of winter in the second piece as well, but I'm sure that will be more evident once you add color.
These are looking good. Think HARD about how to apply the colors and what pallette to use. The top one is great. The bottom one could use a hint of winter environment, yes.

Would it make sense for it to be snowing while they were in the hot tub?
If not, I might change it to an indoor hot tub, with a window showing snowy outdoors...
