i'd say keep the colors somewhat faded in the back, but do something to bring the people and the devices out. the sony reader one doesn't really look like the couple is reading it together. maybe if they were sitting together and reading it would make the piece more romantic looking. other wise i like your drawings
Danny, Maybe try some more dynamic perspectives. That could make it really interesting, especially with the first one since it is a straight-on shot of the couple. They're sort of static... know what I mean?
Also, think about the settings. Where would people who have an electronic book thing live? They'd live in a posh condo with really modern furnature. Look at designer furnature. Also think about what they're wearing. Make them look like NPR listening, urban intellectuals. Tiny glasses, black turtlenecks, etc. Empty bookshelves might be funny in the background too. Think about it. Same with the bottom one. You need some style infusion. Also what Darcey said about the compositions.
