Robbie Lawrence

The first is for the gps thing (she's finding LOVE) and the second for windows vista. I'll probably use gouache textures and scan them into the computer for the final for lots of flatness... I never really came up with an idea I was really satisfied with for vista, such is life.

Robbie, I can understand what you mean about not having a great idea for the Vista piece. A computer OS doesn't seems to lend itself well to WINTERTIME LOVENOLOGY. The top one, though, I really like (I did something similar for that gadget), and I think you've dressed everyone very well. The guy's face in the lower piece is fantastic. Nicely done.

The girl's hand that's holding a GPS is a little stiff, though. Maybe physically pick up an iPod or some other delicate gadget like that and see how the hand works when you have to both cradle it and press buttons or whatever. The gesture on it is entirely different, but it's really important in conveying realism.

I wish one could actually find love by satellite data.

Vista is pretty hard. I wonder if you could show that image as a picture on a computer screen (that's running Vista) or something, so it'd relate better to the OS?

i understand that the vista thing is a hard one to show, but it seems that holding a computer program while on the snowy ground is a bit unrealistic. its kinda weird to see someone making a snow angel while cuddling a brand new, expensive, program box. you wouldnt want that getting wet or snowy. i love the angle you drew it from, though. it makes it look a lot more fun than valentines day actually is.

that last one was danny, by the way. sorry, im not very good at this blogging thing.

Yeah I understand the thing about the gesture on the GPS girl. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna redraw both of them to make them better, and the vista box is in a really hardcore plastic case, like you could throw it around and it would be fine (strange...)i should render it better so it looks plastic.

Nice work, Robbie. The top one (gps) is great, although I think I agree with Sam about the hand. The bottom piece is really cool, but not quite right for the subject. I am sorry about Vista. It is kind of the most boring of the selected objects. You should see what you can do with Aimee's suggestion about having something onscreen. If it were done just right, a couple toasting (perhaps mugs of hot chocolate or coffee or something) in front of their newly installed operating system. Do people do that? I don't know, love is bonkers. Think about it. It will be a shame to loose snow angle guy and flowers girl. He's just so damned excited. Like a puppy-man.

Thanks!

im really in love with the sketch you did in the bottom one, it's extremely adorable. i think making it look more like a gift would help, and aimee's idea might work too. if love is so bonkers then why wouldn't an adorable asian boy fall on the ground amazingly happy to have a vista program as a gift from his girlfriend on valentines day?

that last one was by ASHLEY btw, not dan or anyone else...

The snow angel is so adorable I don't even care that it doesn't make sense.

I love the girl's hair in the top sketch... really really awesome. But I kind of wish the guy was doing something... maybe walking towards her?

Vista boy looks like he's got his hand in his pants... I guess he really wanted windows vista.
